The Advent Fast

November 25, 2025 – January 6, 2026

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”

(Isaiah 7:14)

The Advent Fast, or Nativity Fast, is a sacred 43-day journey in the Coptic Orthodox Church in which we prepare our hearts, minds, and lives for the glorious Feast of the Nativity.

During this period, the Church invites us to draw nearer to Christ through intentional prayer, repentance, and acts of love and generosity.

As we fast from certain foods, we also learn to fast from distractions, anxieties, and anything that pulls us away from God.

Like the Virgin Mary who humbly prepared to receive the Savior, we too are called to cultivate purity, quietness of heart, and joyful expectation.

May this blessed fast fill our homes and our church family with peace, hope, and spiritual renewal.
